We are hiring a Tool and Die Apprentice to join our team. This is a great opportunity for on-the-job training!

Responsibilities:

  • Learn to read and interpret specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, or tool description, and plan sequence of operations.
  • Learn to measure and mark metal stock to lay out work pieces for machining.
  • Learn to do set-ups and operating machine tools, such as lathe, milling machine, machining center, EDM Wire machine, and grinder, to machine parts and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Learn to position and secure parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates.
  • Learn to fits and assemble parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.
  • Learn to verify dimensions and alignment, using measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, and gauge blocks.
  • Learn to examine standard tools and modify tools as required.
  • Learn to develop specifications from general descriptions and draws or sketches tool to be fabricated.
  • Learn to input labor into the data collection terminals.
  • Learn to do PM checks, maintaining coolant levels, general housekeeping of work area and ensuring all safety devices are operational
  • Learn to heat treat tools or parts.

Education and Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Solid math skills including geometry
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in Robotics, Automotive, engineering, contract manufacturing, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand machine controls and computer screens.
  • Ability and willingness to work all assigned hours, including overtime and attend evening and/or weekend classes.
  • Professional work ethics including dependability, verbal and written communication skills, willingness to learn new things
