Overview:
Sklar Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting/Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role focuses primarily on Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) while supporting accurate financial reporting, maintaining cash flow efficiency, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee full-cycle Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in line with GAAP and company policies
- Maintain and improve internal controls related to AR/AP and participate in process improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with departments such as Sales, Operations, and Warehouse to resolve billing/payment discrepancies
- Assist in management of rebate programs with distributor partners, including accruals and contract adherence
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, financial reporting, and external audits
- Provide support with general ledger accounting and other assignments as directed by the Controller
Specific Tasks:
Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate and distribute invoices
- Post payments, credit memos, and adjustments
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on past-due accounts
- Investigate and resolve billing issues or customer disputes
- Coordinate recurring meetings with distributor partners
- Prepare AR reconciliations and related journal entries
Accounts Payable (AP):
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices
- Process payments (checks, ACH, wires)
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor master records and ensure W-9/1099 compliance
- Track and record prepaid expenses and recurring invoices
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of accounting experience with strong AR/AP background
- Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and transactional accounting
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage 300)
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, reconciliations)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field
