Material Handler/Machine Operator I

Responsible to: Trades Instructor /Assistant Trades Instructor/Material Handler III, IV, Executive Director
Directly/Indirectly Supervises: None
General Statement of Duties:
The Level 1 Material Handler supports daily production and warehouse operations by safely operating equipment, preparing materials, maintaining work areas, and ensuring products meet quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, basic machine operation skills, and the ability to follow established procedures. With any and all duties as assigned
Essential Duties
· Place boards on saw table/conveyor; take cut pieces off table and stack neatly on a pallet
· Place end boards on saw table; adjust boards to meet the saw stop
· Assist with Cutting boards to length using stops for measurements
· Assist with Re-sawing boards to width/thickness
· Operate hand held banders for securing loads
· Wrap pallets using pallet wrapping equipment
· operate semi-automatic table bander equipment
· Place boards into a jig; nail boards together using nail gun
· Use bottle labeler and capping machine for packaging lines
· Fold, tape and assemble boxes
· Read packing slips and prepare orders for shipping
· Stock store shelves
· Basic Janitorial duties
· Remove waste to dumpster
· Keep work area clean
· Inspect materials and finished products for accuracy and defects
· Report inconsistencies or production issues to supervisors
· Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
· Work Safely in a Manufacturing environment.
Nonessential Duties:
· Operate Cash Register
· Assist with inventory
· Operate woodworking equipment under supervision
· Assist with safety inspections
· perform other related work as required
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
· Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions
· Effectively communicate
· Possess basic mathematical skills: must be able to count to 50
· Perform basic visual quality inspections on products
· Follow production pace set by other workers
· Work effectively with Supervisor and coworkers
Required Physical Activities:
· May be required to stand for long periods of time
· May involve some repetitive motions
· Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds
· May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, pushing and pulling
· Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include heat, humidity and cold
Driving Requirements:
must have current, valid driver’s license and/or dependable transportation/ride ICPTA
Other Requirements:

Experience and Training:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required. No prior experience necessary.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $7.25 - $12.00 per hour
