Company Description SKILLS, Inc. is a non-profit organization in Maine that supports adults with intellectual disabilities and other challenges in achieving their personal goals through residential, supportive, and employment services. For more than 50 years, the organization has adapted to the changing needs of the community, with its current structure formed in 2005 through the merger of Sebasticook Farms and Ken-A-Set. SKILLS, Inc. is mission-driven, focused on promoting inclusion and educating the public to reduce barriers for people with disabilities. The organization currently supports more than 185 individuals in 28 community support and day programs, residential programs, and businesses, as well as in private homes across central Maine. Role Description This full-time, on-site DSP / CRMA role is based in Skowhegan, ME and focuses on providing direct support to adults with intellectual disabilities and other challenges. Daily responsibilities include assisting individuals with personal care, daily living activities, and community participation while promoting independence, dignity, and choice. The DSP / CRMA monitors and documents individual progress, follows support plans, and collaborates with team members to ensure consistent, high-quality care. As a CRMA, this role also involves safely administering medications in accordance with state regulations and agency policies, maintaining accurate medication records, and communicating any health-related concerns to supervisors and healthcare providers. The position supports a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment, encourages meaningful activities, and helps individuals engage in work, social, and recreational opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills to support individuals, families, and team members.
• Ability to provide direct care, including assistance with daily living tasks, personal care, and community integration, while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Competence in medication administration (CRMA certification or ability to obtain), accurate documentation, and adherence to health and safety protocols.
• Skills in observing, recording, and reporting changes in behavior or health, and following individualized support plans and guidelines.
• Dependable work habits, including punctuality, time management, and the ability to work flexible shifts as needed.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in direct support, human services, or healthcare is beneficial.
• Willingness to complete required training and certifications (e.g., DSP, CRMA, CPR/First Aid) provided or supported by the organization.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and to support a mission-driven, person-centered culture.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required for community activities and transportation support.
