Preschool BHP Ed Tech II/III

Job Summary

Skills for Life is hiring now for our grand opening in September!

We are seeking compassionate, energetic, and dependable BHPs / Ed Tech IIs or IIIs to support young children in our early childhood special education preschool program. Our program serves children aged 3-5 years with autism and related developmental disabilities in a warm, structured, and supportive environment.

In this role, you will work directly with children throughout their school day, helping them build communication, play, social, self-help, and school-readiness skills. You will receive training and ongoing support from Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), special education teachers, and clinical leaders as you implement individualized teaching and behavior support plans.

Pay range: $22-$27/hour depending on experience

Duties

• Provide 1:1 support to preschool-aged children during classroom routines, play, group activities, meals, transitions, toileting, and outdoor play.
• Implement individualized teaching plans, behavior support plans, and skill-building programs under the supervision of BCBAs and special education staff.
• Use compassionate, child-centered Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies to support communication, toleration, cooperation, independence, social engagement, and emotional regulation.
• Collect accurate data on child progress, participation, and behavior using a specialized program on a tablet.
• Help create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
• Use proactive strategies and de-escalation techniques to support children during moments of frustration or distress.
• Communicate professionally with supervisors and team members about child progress, needs, and concerns.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing coaching.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all program policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Experience supporting young children with autism, developmental delays, or behavioral needs preferred but not required.
• Associate's Degree or a minimum of 60 college credits required for Ed Tech II certification; Bachelors Degree or a minimum of 90 college credits required for Ed Tech III certification
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (Skills for Life will assist in obtaining certifications of Behavior Health Professional and Ed Tech II/Ed Tech III).
• Strong communication, reliability, patience, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow individualized plans and accept feedback from supervisors.
• Comfort supporting children with toileting, meals, transitions, and play-based learning.
• Ability to remain calm, respectful, and compassionate during challenging moments.
• Commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children.

Schedule

Full-time position during preschool program hours (35 hours/week). Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.

3 weeks paid time off during school vacations, paid holidays off, plus additional flex PTO
