Senior Research Associate – Protein Engineering

About the Role:
As a Senior Research Associate reporting to a Senior Scientist on the Protein Engineering team, you will design and execute experiments covering rational and computational designs of proteins and RNAs, focusing on improvement of novel therapeutic editing modalities. This position will be heavily on the bench. Working in close collaboration with our computational, molecularly biology, genomics and therapeutic teams, you will:
- Utilize protein and DNA design tools to convert hypotheses into testable materials
- Utilize molecular biology techniques to build and QC test materials, including AAV, with standardized 96-well plate-based workflows
- Assess the molecular impact of gene editing complexes using mammalian cells, including HEK and primary cells
- Provide general lab support and maintenance
- Design, execute, analyze, and document experiments. Communicate and present results to internal stakeholders
- Support and collaborate with research teams
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master’s in biology, neuroscience, genetics or related life science discipline
- A minimum of two years of experience in industry or academic research
- An experimentalist ready and able to execute the full hypothesis testing cycle of design, build, test, and analyze
- Strong understanding of cell engineering and tissue culture best practices
- Strong molecular biology, cell culture and flow cytometry skill sets
- Impeccable attention to detail and meticulous documentation of experiments and results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using CRISPR-Cas or similar gene editing tools for therapeutic applications
- Experience with therapeutic target selection and optimization
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve experimental objectives
