About the Role:
As a Senior Research Associate at Tornado Bio, you will work on the Product Engineering team to design and execute experiments including therapeutic target evaluation and improvements to novel therapeutic editing modalities. This position will be heavily on the bench, and you will be working in close collaboration with our therapeutic program and platform technology teams. Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform gene editing experiments in cell lines and primary cells with standardized 96-well plate based workflows
- Utilize molecular biology techniques to assess therapeutic gene editing outcomes in human primary cells and cell lines, including flow cytometry and qPCR
- Assess the biological impact of therapeutic candidates using appropriate in vitro and in vivo model systems
- Provide general lab support and maintenance
- Design, execute, analyze, and document experiments. Communicate and present results to internal stakeholders
- Support and collaborate with research teams
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master’s in biology, neuroscience, genetics or related life science discipline
- A minimum of two years of experience in industry or academic research
- An experimentalist ready and able to execute the full hypothesis testing cycle of design, build, test, and analyze
- Strong understanding of cell engineering and tissue culture best practices
- Strong molecular biology, cell culture and flow cytometry skill sets
- Impeccable attention to detail and meticulous documentation of experiments and results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using CRISPR-Cas or similar gene editing tools for therapeutic applications
- Experience with therapeutic target selection and optimization
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve experimental objectives
