What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Research Associate, Molecular Biology position at Skills Alliance Enterprise?
SRA – Molecular Biology
About the Company:
We are leveraging emerging tools in genetic medicine to develop transformative therapies for human disease. Our focus is on applying these advanced approaches to treat, or potentially cure, common conditions that impact large patient populations. To achieve this, we are building therapeutics designed to precisely modify and regulate multiple genes at the DNA, RNA, and protein levels in vivo.
We foster a collaborative, science-driven environment where innovation thrives and individuals are supported in doing their best work. We are currently seeking highly motivated and creative individuals to join our growing team.
About the Role:
As a Senior Research Associate, Molecular Biology, you will work on the Product Engineering team interfacing with Molecular Biology and Computational Biology groups. In this role, you will help translate AI predictions into experimental validation by executing the bench work needed for rapid iteration of gene editing designs. In this role, you will:
- Conduct 96-well plate-based cell culture experiments, performing plasmid transfections to validate novel editing complex designs in human cells
- Work closely with computational scientists and molecular biologists to rapidly design, build and test novel gene editing systems in human cells
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques including plasmid miniprep, Gibson assembly, and other cloning methods
- Assist in the production of research-scale AAV preparations for delivering gene editing systems to target cells
- Provide general lab support and maintenance
- Foster collaboration with cross-functional teams to accelerate therapeutic development through iterative design-build-test cycles
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s or master’s in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or related life science discipline
- A minimum of two years of experience in industry or academic research
- Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including transfection techniques in human cell lines
- Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques such as plasmid miniprep, Gibson assembly, restriction digest, and PCR
- Impeccable attention to detail and meticulous documentation of experiments and results
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with high-throughput experimental workflows and data-driven design testing cycles
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining lab equipment, reagents, and documentation
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across interdisciplinary teams, including computational and wet lab scientists
- Adaptability in a fast-paced research environment and enthusiasm for iterative, hypothesis-driven experimentation
- Previous experience using CRISPR-Cas or similar gene editing tools for therapeutic applications
- Previous experience using AAV as a therapeutic vector
