Skillforce is seeking experienced Journeyman Concrete Carpenters for contract-to-hire opportunities in the Iowa City, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA. areas. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of commercial projects with the potential to transition into a long-term, permanent position. The anticipated schedule for this role is 40 hours a week, and pay is up to $32/hr. depending upon experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construct, assemble, and dismantle wood and metal forms for concrete pours.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine formwork layout.
- Install rebar, mesh, and other reinforcement materials as required.
- Pour, level, and finish concrete using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Ensure formwork is properly aligned, braced, and secured to meet structural requirements.
- Safely operate hand and power tools including saws, drills, and concrete vibrators.
- Collaborate with other trades and team members to meet project deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial concrete carpentry.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of concrete properties and curing processes.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites.
