About the Role:
The Carpenter Foreman plays a critical leadership role in overseeing and coordinating carpentry projects within the construction site in Washington DC. This position ensures that all carpentry work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, meeting project specifications and deadlines. The foreman is responsible for managing a team of carpenters, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize productivity and craftsmanship. They collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain smooth workflow and resolve any on-site issues promptly. Ultimately, the Carpenter Foreman ensures that the carpentry aspects of construction projects contribute to the overall success and timely completion of the build.
Pay Range: $40-45 per hour DOE
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a carpenter with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
- Proven knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Valid OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training program.
- Experience working on commercial or large-scale residential construction projects.
- Certification in first aid and CPR.
- Strong leadership and team management skills demonstrated through previous roles.
- Proficiency with construction management software or digital project tracking tools.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily carpentry activities, ensuring adherence to project plans and safety regulations.
- Assign tasks and provide clear instructions to carpentry team members to maintain productivity and quality standards.
- Inspect work for accuracy, compliance with blueprints, and craftsmanship, making adjustments as necessary.
- Maintain communication with project managers and other trades to synchronize schedules and resolve any conflicts.
- Ensure all tools, materials, and equipment are used properly and maintained in good condition.
- Train and mentor carpenters to enhance their skills and promote a safe working environment.
- Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Prepare progress reports and document work completed, delays, or issues encountered on site.
