This role involves significant organizational and operational compliance work, including developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, conducting risk assessments, providing training, and ensuring regulatory adherence. This is a hybrid position in Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities
- Compliance Management: Develop, implement, and maintain a healthcare compliance framework that adheres to federal and state laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act).
- Policy and Procedure Development: Create, update, and implement compliance policies and procedures to address regulatory requirements and organizational needs.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver compliance training for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Auditing and Monitoring: Conduct internal audits and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Investigations and Corrective Action: Investigate reported compliance violations, develop corrective action plans, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of changes in healthcare laws and regulations and update compliance activities accordingly.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address complex compliance issues, and ensure adherence to regulations.
- Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to leadership on the status of compliance, including identified risks, audit findings, and corrective actions.
- Privacy and Security: Ensure compliance with patient privacy and data security regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete records of compliance activities, including policies, training records, audit findings, and investigation reports.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of healthcare laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing compliance strategies.
- Experience in developing and delivering training.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Certifications (Preferred): Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or other relevant compliance certifications.
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with external legal counsel on compliance matters.
- Experience in a large healthcare organization or system.
- $100,000 - $140,000 plus bonus
