What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Diesel) position at Skilled Trades Partners?
We are actively hiring a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our trusted Customer that specializes in large-scale excavation and site development to keep fleet operating at peak performance both in the shop and in the field.

What You’ll Do
- Maintain and repair heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and more
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, diesel engine, and electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections
- Respond to on-site equipment issues and provide field repairs
- Work closely with operators and supervisors to keep projects on schedule
- Document repairs and maintain service records
- Order and install replacement parts as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5 years of experience working on heavy construction equipment
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair issues efficiently
- Must have own tools (specialized equipment provided)
- Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
Preferred but not required: ASE certification, OSHA training, welding/fabrication experience
