Storefront / Front Counter Support

We are looking for a dependable, friendly, and organized person to join our team as a Storefront / Front Counter Support employee.

This position is the first point of contact for customers and helps keep the day-to-day storefront operation running smoothly. You’ll greet customers, answer phones, assist with basic purchases and orders, handle transactions, stock products, and provide general administrative support.

We are willing to train the right person who is reliable, professional, comfortable working with customers, and eager to learn.

What You’ll Do

• Greet customers and determine how you can assist them.
• Answer incoming phone calls and direct customers to the appropriate person.
• Help customers with straightforward purchases and basic order entry.
• Process cash and credit-card transactions accurately.
• Take clear and accurate messages.
• Direct quotes, takeoffs, special orders, and technical questions to an experienced salesperson.
• Receive, price, stock, and put away Orgill and other storefront products.
• Keep shelves, the front counter, and customer areas clean, organized, and stocked.
• Assist with filing, paperwork, labels, data entry, and general administrative tasks.
• Learn our products, systems, and procedures over time.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service throughout the day.

• Comfortable interacting with customers in person and over the phone.
• Basic computer and data-entry skills.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy storefront environment.
• Willingness to learn about lumber, building materials, hardware, and related products.
• Ability to follow directions and know when to refer a customer or question to an experienced salesperson.
• Retail, contractor-supply, hardware, or customer-service experience is helpful but not required.
• Lumber or building-material experience is not required; we will train the right candidate.

Position Details

• Full-time — 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday
• Specific hours will be based on storefront coverage needs.
• Occasional Saturday coverage: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., no more than once per month.
• Weekday hours will be adjusted during weeks when Saturday coverage is required.

Important

This is a storefront support and customer-service position, not an experienced inside-sales position.
