Skilled Services manages design and construction together instead of developing designs or construction through separate companies as is traditional. This style offers more continuity and support for the client. We are looking for an Electrical Estimator for our Knoxville, TN office. This is a full time, direct hire role.
This role includes the following responsibilities:
This role involves compiling estimates for build ready and undefined projects including labor, materials, subcontractors, & equipment required to complete minor and major facility improvements. A PCE assists with the construction of take offs, bids, and estimates of assigned projects, and is a liaison post sale with the Preconstruction department, Projects Delivery and the Client.
Roles & Responsibilities
· Qualify projects including site visits and confirming/establishing scope.
· Attend pre-bid meetings.
· Store all estimate & proposal documents in corresponding folders on appropriate server
· Input notes taken from site visit into Salesforce or Dropbox.
· Upload photos of site and building in corresponding files on Dropbox.
· Print and/or scan in any plans and drawings of the project.
· Establish accurate project lead times for each estimate from Project Delivery team before submittal to Sales.
· Ensure that all assigned project estimates are completed and returned to sales team within agreed upon timeline.
· Receive and evaluate subcontractor quotes for applicable scopes and alignment with Contractor bid documents.
· Qualify vendor proposals to ascertain scope duplication and/or omissions/exclusions.
· Enter and update projects into Salesforce throughout the pricing process of the Project.
· Work, communicate, present, and negotiate directly with owners, construction
managers, architects, engineers, and sub-tier contractors to win business for the
company.
· Directly prepare detailed quantity take-offs (quantity), develop assumed specifications (quality), and assign market relevant cost factors to fully articulate preliminary/final construction cost estimates.
· Analyze complex projects, dividing work categories into functional stages upon which several estimators/teams may be assigned to contribute resources.
· Visit active work sites with project director if/when purchasing/estimating issues arise.
· Work with and/or lead teams to high level of performance while operating a deadline driven environment.
· Utilize Time Management and Organizational skills to service multiple projects
· Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
· Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
Requirements
- Experience estimating commercial construction projects ranging from $500k to $20M required.
- Degree is preferred but not required.
- A wide general knowledge base, networking, and recent interaction with sub-tier vendors, public authorities, and utilities.
- Demonstrate ability to establish and build client relationships including written, verbal, face to face, and electronic communications with clients, all levels of company staff, subcontracted vendors, and design professionals
- Must be able to: Analyze Information, Estimate, Plan, Report, and Research Results.
- Must have Data Center Experience, MS Excel experience, Takeoff software experience such as ProEst, strategic planning ability, high attention to detail, and strong communication Skills.
- Former construction field experience preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
