POSITION DESCRIPTIONThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities of the Maintenance Department to ensure the center remains compliant with Federal, State, and Local ordinances, regulations, and building codes. This position ensures the facility is maintained in a sanitary, safe, attractive, and orderly condition; in good repair; and free from hazards related to electrical, plumbing, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems. This role also oversees the provision of quality laundry services.QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalency required.One to two years of supervisory experience in a commercial establishment with knowledge of laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance procedures.Minimum of two years of work experience in long-term care preferred.RESPONSIBILITIESSupervise all Environmental Services staff and daily work activities, ensuring appropriate staffing, budget control, and effective resolution of interdepartmental issues. Maintain and process records including accounts payable, supply receipts, and equipment maintenance logs.Implement and oversee the company’s preventative maintenance program; document all maintenance activities, including parts, materials, and fuel usage.Collaborate with healthcare staff and department leaders to support infection prevention and meet environmental service needs.Maintain electrical and mechanical systems in good working order; respond to work orders, set priorities, and conduct daily rounds to ensure cleanliness and operational safety.Monitor and adjust light bulbs and exit lights, water temperatures, circuit breakers, walk-in cooler and freezer temperatures, and the resident call-light system.Ensure proper operation of the generator, time clocks, exhaust fans, water fountains, toilets, drains, scales, and elevators.Conduct fire drills; inspect and maintain fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and fire doors.Identify, evaluate, and recommend independent contractors for specialized repairs or work beyond the capabilities of the maintenance team.Assist in developing and updating departmental policies and procedures.Supervise daily maintenance functions and ensure timely room readiness for admissions and discharges.Maintain accurate maintenance records, prioritize work orders, and ensure timely completion of projects.Perform other duties as assigned or as operational needs evolve.
