We are seeking a Project Estimator to join our Woodridge, IL office. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, this role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates for mechanical, piping, plumbing, and HVAC/R projects. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically strong, and comfortable collaborating across teams to deliver complete, well‑scoped proposals.
What You’ll Do
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to prepare accurate estimates
- Perform detailed quantity take‑offs for piping, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
- Build complete, organized estimates within required timelines
- Issue clear RFIs to resolve scope gaps, conflicts, or missing information
- Prepare, coordinate, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bid packages
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotes for scope alignment and accuracy
- Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Support the company’s historical cost database with updated labor and material data
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns for pre‑construction budgeting
- Participate in pre‑bid walkthroughs as needed
- Collaborate with other estimators on multi‑trade proposals
- Ensure all estimates align with project scope, drawings, and contract requirements
What You Bring
- 5–10 years of estimating experience in commercial or industrial construction
- Experience estimating mechanical, plumbing, piping, and/or HVAC systems
- Proficiency with computerized estimating software (QuickPen AutoBid preferred)
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Project)
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Construction drawings
- Piping plans
- Isometric drawings
- Detail and specification documents
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- High attention to detail and follow‑through
- College degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience
- Combination of field and office experience strongly preferred
