JOB TITLE: Director of Music Ministry - Skidaway Island Methodist Church (SIMC)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Music Ministry is a full-time salaried position that serves as an integral part of the ministry team at SIMC. The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for the overall music ministry of the church, including the Chancel Choir, handbell choir, age-level choirs, and concert series. The Director of Music Ministry plans a blend of music for Sunday morning worship services and special services throughout the year. The Director of Music Ministry has oversight and coordination responsibilities for our worship committees.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with staff, committees, volunteers, and church members to create a place of shared community, deep worship, and growth as believers in Christ.

Partner with the pastoral team to plan and create impactful and meaningful worship services and select music to support scripture and sermons throughout the year.

Recruit, train, and engage others in music ministry and inspire all ages to develop and use their musical skills to participate in worship.

Provide oversight for music opportunities for children and youth, including choirs, ensembles, solos, summer camps, and the Fine Arts Academy.

Maintain knowledge of traditional worship arrangements and hymns as well as a range of contemporary music appropriate to our worship setting.

Provide leadership, support and communication for music committee and worship committee, along with all sub-committees.

Lead a team of part-time staff including Fine Arts Director, accompanists, and staff singers.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Profess a relationship with Christ and express a vital and growing Christian faith. Experience music ministry as a calling rather than a job.

Desires to be an active part of the life and ministry of Skidaway Island Methodist Church and willing to work in collaboration with pastoral team and laity.

Three years of prior experience as a leader in music ministry in a church setting.

Proficiency in choral conducting, handbell leadership and recruitment of volunteers.

Evidence of demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

Bachelor’s degree in music; Preferred qualifications include master’s degree and ability to play the organ.
