Summary:
The Aftermarket Territory Manager role is accountable for delivering consistent, sustainable, and profitable sales growth by actively creating incremental demand through new business development and competitive share gain. This role requires a strong hunter mentality, with a clear expectation to proactively identify, pursue, and win new opportunities across the territory.
The position engages SKF Authorized Distributors, Channel Partners, and End Users with a primary focus on winning new applications and converting competitive positions to SKF solutions, while also expanding wallet share within existing accounts through strategic relationship development
Reporting to a regional Sales Director, this highly technical role is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and converting growth opportunities within targeted end users and channel partners. The Territory Manager secures SKF’s position on new products and applications by building a pipeline of new business, executing competitive take-away strategies, and delivering a flawless customer experience. This position serves as the primary technical and commercial resource for distributors and end users in a defined sales territory, partnering cross-functionally to win, implement, and retain business.
Sales territory geography includes Wisconsin. Subject to future adjustments based on business needs. The candidate must be located within the territory.
Key Responsibilities
Drive Revenue Growth & Market Share
- Deliver consistent year-over-year sales and profit growth within the assigned territory.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with distributors, channel partners, and end users.
- Execute competitive conversion strategies to win business from incumbent suppliers.
- Expand SKF product penetration and wallet share within existing accounts.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales funnel with clear next steps, stakeholder engagement plans, and close strategies.
Develop Strong Customer Relationships
- Build trusted relationships with key decision-makers, engineers, maintenance teams, and distribution partners.
- Understand customer goals, operational challenges, and equipment requirements.
- Position SKF solutions that improve reliability, productivity, and total cost of ownership.
- Serve as a trusted advisor by helping customers achieve their operational and business objectives.
Provide Technical Sales Support
- Deliver technical support for bearings, seals, lubrication, and maintenance products.
- Conduct application reviews to identify opportunities and recommend optimal SKF solutions.
- Troubleshoot existing applications and support root cause failure analysis activities.
- Evaluate competitive products and recommend SKF alternatives.
- Provide product training, demonstrations, and technical presentations to customers and distributors.
Execute Strategic Account Management
- Develop and implement opportunity-based account plans.
- Utilize SKF's Sales Excellence process to advance opportunities through the sales cycle.
- Collaborate with Application Engineers and cross-functional teams to support complex customer challenges.
- Secure growth and retention orders while ensuring a seamless customer experience.
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies with internal and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and technical curiosity.
- Proven success in industrial technical sales, business development, or account management.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, develop opportunities, and win new business.
- Hunter mentality with a strong competitive drive and results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Experience supporting rotating equipment, bearings, power transmission, lubrication, sealing solutions, or related industrial products preferred.
- Strong organizational, territory management, and sales planning skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and digital sales tools.
