Job Overview

The ideal candidate will support orthodontic procedures, ensure patient comfort, and maintain efficient clinic operations. This role requires a strong understanding of assisting techniques, familiarity with orthodontic treatments, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience is beneficial, but not required.
Duties
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including bracket placement, adjustments, and appliance fittings
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, adhering to safety protocols
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices
- Perform chairside assisting using aseptic techniques and maintain a sterile environment
- Record vital signs and medical history updates as needed for pediatric and general dentistry patients
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical documentation
- Ensure infection control standards are strictly followed to maintain a safe clinical environment
- Collaborate with the dental team on comprehensive treatment planning involving prosthodontics, endodontics, or other specialties when necessary
Qualifications
- High school diploma and/or equivalent
- One year of experience in a dental and/or orthodontic office preferred but willing to train the right person who is the right fit
- Proven experience in dental assisting, particularly within orthodontics
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for patient confidentiality
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures and operate medical imaging equipment safely
- Familiarity with orthodontic terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control protocols
- Certification in dental assisting or related field is preferred but not mandatory
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient care
- Must have a strong work ethic, history of reliability, and a positive attitude
- Must be professional with good communication skills and compassion

- Must be able to work well in an environment with a variety of people and personalities
