Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management under supervision.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident’s unique needs, including those related to mental health, gender issues, and developmental challenges.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities such as art therapy sessions to promote emotional expression and social engagement.
- Monitor residents’ behavior and well-being, documenting observations accurately and reporting any concerns promptly.
- Support residents in developing life skills that foster independence and self-confidence.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals on medication adjustments involving psychopharmacology principles when appropriate.
- Promote a respectful environment that recognizes gender issues counseling needs and encourages open communication.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in mental health or IDD support is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with mental health challenges or developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of art therapy techniques, psychopharmacology basics, and gender issues counseling enhances your ability to support residents effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage empathetically and actively listen.
- Ability to handle challenging behaviors with patience, positivity, and professionalism.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is desirable; willingness to obtain relevant certifications if not already held.
