General Responsibilities
This position involves providing full-time classroom teaching in a combined Transition to Kindergarten and Kindergarten (TTK/K) classroom, focusing on establishing a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment while delivering rigorous, developmentally appropriate, and engaging foundational instruction.
Salary:
The full salary range is $58,929.00 - $111,164.00.
Assignment:
This is a 1.0 FTE.
Essential Functions/Other Functions
Essential Functions:
- Establish and clarify acceptable standards for student behavior, demonstrating effective early childhood classroom management skills.
- Monitor students across various educational and play settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment, addressing social, emotional, and developmental issues as they arise.
- Deliver direct instruction and play-based learning opportunities to students within a regular classroom setting.
- Motivate and effectively communicate with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, recognizing varying stages of early childhood development. Incorporate relevant, rigorous, and challenging learning activities into daily lessons that foster early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the varying levels of student readiness and ability across both the TTK and Kindergarten spectrums.
- Attend and actively contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and IEP/504 meetings.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members in planning district curriculum and instructional methods, as well as setting goals and objectives tailored to early learners.
- Maintain a cooperative attitude while working with leadership, colleagues, parents, and students.
- Actively participate in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process to support early intervention.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
- Hold and maintain an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Washington.
- Knowledge of age-appropriate early childhood teaching methods, state early learning guidelines, Kindergarten Washington State Learning Standards, education code, and appropriate instructional subjects.
- Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through WSP and FBI.
