What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Skagit Transit?
Under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled cleaning and facilities maintenance duties at Skagit Station, MOA, MOA2 and other Skagit Transit properties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the job. A typical way to meet this requirement would be:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of custodial or light maintenance experience
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Maintain acceptable driving record
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform custodial duties at Agency facilities including MOA and MOA2, Skagit Station, bus shelters and Park and Rides
- Use power equipment and hand tools such as brooms, mops, squeegees, buffers, polishers, snow removal equipment, high pressure washer and vacuum required for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, platforms, sidewalks, and bus shelters
- Clean facilities according to established schedules; sweep, scrub, wash and clean bus shelters, and facilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilet, showers, and all fixtures
- Clean and sanitize bio-spills at all locations, including bus shelters and Park and Rides, as needed; maintain and unclog toilets, sink drains and traps
- Remove graffiti from a variety of surfaces such as restroom walls, shelter walls, shelter window framework, plastic composite benches, and concrete surfaces
- Empty wastebaskets, trash containers; dust furniture; vacuum, sweep, mop, and polish floors; shampoo carpets; clean door mats
- Wash windows and mirrors
- Remove trash, pick up litter and debris, and sweep and clean bus shelters and surrounding areas from Agency facilities
- Open building and/or lock and secure all entrance doors and gates at appropriate times
- Replace tissue, hand towels, toilet paper, air fresheners and soap in restrooms
- Restock and clean vehicles
- Read and interpret written instructions, service orders and labels on chemicals and supplies
- Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, chemicals, and hazardous waste
- Properly label all containers of paints and chemical products used
- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and order supplies through established procedure
- Require regular reliable attendance
- May be required to serve as a designated emergency responder during disasters and/or emergencies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
