Job Summary
Plans, manages, and coordinates the activities of the technical and support staff for an imaging modality or modalities in one or more of these areas: Diagnostic Imaging, Computerized Tomography, Echocardiography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. This encompasses radiographic/fluoroscopic rooms plus portable imaging modalities and clinic imaging sites. Maintains proper staffing levels, including the development and maintenance of productivity and quality standards. Develops budget and reviews/maintains service contracts for area(s) of responsibility.

Essential Functions
Recommends, develops, implements, and maintains Quality Assurance (QA) and Performance Improvement programs, which include evaluation of costs, patient care, and radiation or patient safety in all areas of responsibility. Runs appropriate reports as needed. Maintains a direct line of communication with the Director , Leads, Staff Technologists, Radiologists, and other hospital departments to assure the optimum in patient flow, patient care and patient satisfaction. Reviews/revises/develops policies and procedures needed for the specific modalities. Ensures staff education and/or training in place prior to implementation of new/changed policies and procedures. Monitors room utilization and provides work direction to technical staff as necessary. Responsible for adhering to all federal, state and local laws and regulations governing the technical and clinical practice of Radiology. Responsible for the adherence to all DNV or other accrediting bodies and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) standards governing the technical and clinical practice of Radiology. Develops and maintains of staff schedules. Reviews and approves electronic timecards in Kronos as required. Approves and documents time off requests and enters them in electronic timekeeping. Completes performance reviews and other administrative paperwork in a timely and accurate manner. Determines staffing needs, and is responsible for interviewing and hiring of new employees, mentoring and corrective action as needed. Communicates change in a positive manner. Supports and promotes organization’s Service Standards and Universal Attributes. Assists with training and staff development as needed. Maintains current knowledge of technical and/or regulatory topics effecting health care and area(s) of responsibility. Attend management meetings as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director.

Education
Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Associate's Degree in a related imaging modality required. Bachelors of Science in related field preferred.

Experience/Training
Requires 3 years of experience in a recognized imaging modality required, with proven technical knowledge of assigned modality, with experience as a lead or senior level staff. Excellent human relations, communication and interpersonal skills required. Demonstrated leadership ability. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Knows and is able to utilize the computer and programs utilized at SRH. Possess clinical skills in one or more modalities. Occasionally manage under stressful situations. Able to communicate well with referring providers and our radiologists. Ability to maintain and promote a positive attitude within the department.

License/Certifications
Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (CNMT) issued by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, sit for long periods of time when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems. This position can also be very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week.
