RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGIST

Hours: M-F 9am-6pm

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist will perform X-Ray, Bone Densitometry (DEXA), fluoroscopy, and C-arm procedures in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site radiologist. Additional responsibilities include providing procedure-related patient care and education, maintaining records and documentation of procedures, and ensuring the safety and comfort of all patients, operators, staff and visitors, while providing back-up support to the front-desk reception area. This position will require someone who can work effectively independently, as well as part of a team.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

• Produces images as ordered by referring physicians for use in diagnosing medical problems.
• Provides proper radiation protection for patient and staff.
• Explains and reviews the referring physician's order and what images will be done with the patient.
• Positions patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately radiographed.
• Adjusts controls on the x-ray machine to produce radiographs of the appropriate density, detail, and contrast of the body part.
• Sets up examination room, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are ready for the exam.
• Completes and signs patient screening forms and explains the procedure to the patient.
• Obtains necessary consent from patients before conducting procedure.
• Maintains patient care, comfort and safety during exams.
• After completed exam, makes sure images and documentation are put on PACS in a timely manner.
• Communicates with front desk staff of any changes that may alter the flow of the patient schedule.
• Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems; Calls for service and notifies appropriate management.
• Maintains equipment service manual, delivery schedule and all related statistics.
• Maintains and cleans all equipment in accordance with decontamination procedures.
• Performs as backfill front desk support when required by ensuring that patient registration is complete and accurate using the Radiology Information System and PACS. This includes capturing patient demographics, referring physician and insurance, making clear copies or scans of insurance cards and correctly distributing paperwork in a timely manner.
• Answers phones and take messages, or forward calls to the correct personnel.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education, Training & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current ARRT certification
• Current BLS CPR certification for healthcare providers
• 2 years' minimum experience as a Radiologic technologist.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Detailed knowledge of current X-Ray procedures.
• Working knowledge of current X-Ray protocols.
• Proficient in: PACS and RIS Systems; Microsoft Office Suite applications; Accessing and navigating company intranet for forms, policies and procedures; Accessing and entering data on organization wide software; and accessing and using internet resources where required in order to perform job duties

• Ability to perform physical activity, including but not limited to: repetitive motions, feeling, grasping, fingering (pinching, typing, handling, etc.), lifting, pulling, pushing, walking, standing, reaching, crouching and stooping.

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist; lift up to 20 lbs. over the head; and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
• Occasionally required to help lift and/or move patients.
• Physical ability to perform all aspects of diagnostic testing, including CPR on all patients.
• Cognitive skill required to administer safe patient care.
• Read/write/speak and understand English.
• Auditory and visual ability to assess and provide diagnostic care.
• Most work is accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well ventilated facilities.

Salary : $28 - $40
