The Human Resources Specialist supports employees, managers and the HR team throughout the employment lifecycle. This position offers the opportunity to build relationships across multiple business units while contributing to recruiting, payroll, employee relations, benefits, compliance and organizational initiatives within a growing multi-state organization. The successful candidate will be organized, approachable, detail-oriented and capable of handling confidential information with sound judgment and professionalism.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the HR team to provide support to employees and managers across the organization.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to HR, payroll, benefits, policies and procedures, or direct inquiries to the appropriate resource.
  • Partner with others to identify staffing needs and coordinate recruiting activities.
  • Create and manage job advertisements across recruiting platforms, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and assist managers throughout the hiring and selection process.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and process new hires, employee changes and separations within the HRIS.
  • Process and audit biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy, resolving discrepancies and maintaining compliance with applicable wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information.
  • Assist with benefits administration, employment verifications, unemployment claims, and other administrative functions.
  • Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave, ADA accommodations, military leave, jury duty leave and other protected leaves.
  • Assist with workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work coordination, modified-duty assignments and related documentation.
  • Assist with reporting, audits, compliance, employee engagement programs and company events.
  • Assist with employee relations matters by gathering information, preparing documentation and supporting investigations, corrective action and performance management activities.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
  • Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with payroll and employee records.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, including possessing intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree with HR emphasis in field of study.
  • Previous experience in HR, payroll, recruiting or a related professional office environment.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now or a comparable HRIS.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and online recruiting platforms (Indeed, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Knowledge of federal and Washington State employment laws, including wage and hour requirements, leave administration and employment documentation.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR certification.

SCHEDULE

This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position at our Main Office in Burlington, WA. 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

$30.00 – $38.00/hour. After meeting eligibility requirements, benefits include:
