Duties
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional service throughout their shopping journey
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems efficiently to process sales, returns, and exchanges
- Handle cash, credit/debit card transactions, and other payment methods with accuracy and integrity
- Assist customers with product inquiries, including product demos when applicable
- Upsell relevant products or services to enhance customer satisfaction and store sales
- Maintain organized checkout counters, ensure proper stocking of register supplies, and manage cash handling procedures
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring the store remains inviting and well-presented
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or via online inquiries
- Engage in basic retail math to calculate totals, discounts, and change accurately
- Contribute to a positive team environment by supervising or mentoring new team members when needed
Skills
- Proven experience with POS systems and cash handling procedures in a retail or grocery store setting
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the phone
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer needs better
- Demonstrated upselling techniques to promote products confidently without being pushy
- Knowledge of merchandising, stocking, and product demos to enhance the shopping experience
- Retail math proficiency for accurate transactions and inventory management
- Excellent communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette
- Supervising experience is a plus for supporting team operations and training new staff
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
