What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President, Medical Affairs position at SK Life Science, Inc.?
Overview
The VP will be an integral component of SK Medical Affairs leadership team comprised of therapeutic area experts including medical information and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs). The incumbent will oversee the MSL team, Key opinion leader (KOL) interactions, publication planning, investigator initiated research, medical information, grants and other core clinical medical affairs capabilities. The incumbent will develop a scientific strategic platform to support marketed products, products in development, and lifecycle plans.
Responsibilities
Establish, train and lead the SKBP MSL group
Provide day-to-day guidance while working closely on joint projects with the medical affairs team and other departments within the organization (clinical development, commercial, etc.). Projects include, scientific congress/conference strategy and planning, advisory boards, development of educational goals for medical education, publications, field force training, health economics and epidemiology analyses, and marketing/policy related projects.
Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders in the fields of epilepsy and neurology as well as future specialties which may include psychiatry and oncology. Collaborate with thought leaders to develop therapeutic concepts that warrant additional study, identify messages for scientific communications based on preclinical or clinical data, and gain feedback on strategies to support the scientific and medical affairs plan for marketed products.
Collaborate with and provide scientific training for internal departments, including Marketing, Sales, Clinical Operations, Research, Corporate Development, Managed Care, and for external audiences, such as patient advocacy groups, physicians, other health care providers, and formulary and clinical guidelines decision makers.
Establish and manage the SKBP publication planning process. Provide scientific input into manuscripts for publication and presentation at scientific meetings
Participate in appropriate cross-functional and cross-company Clinical and Commercial teams to inform brand strategies and tactics and represent Clinical Affairs.
Define the strategy governing Investigator Initiated Research and oversee the proposals review and grants process.
Provide clinical and scientific support in establishing a medical information process to respond to inquiries from healthcare professionals and managed care organizations.
Qualifications
PhD or PharmD required
Previous medical affairs, business development and people management experience (>15 yrs)
High degree of professionalism, integrity and collaboration required.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with strategic and tactical planning for marketed product preferred.
Strong leadership, team building, negotiation and ability to execute.
Experience building an MSL group and leading field based organizations
