SK Hospitality Group is seeking experienced Line Cooks to join the opening culinary team at Yamasaki, a high-end Japanese fine dining restaurant in the heart of the Financial District.
Yamasaki will offer an elevated Japanese dining experience featuring premium ingredients, refined technique, and polished hospitality. The menu will highlight luxury Japanese cuisine, including wagyu, caviar, sushi, sashimi, premium seafood, composed hot dishes, and seasonal ingredients.
The Line Cook will support daily kitchen operations and execute menu items with consistency, precision, cleanliness, and attention to detail. This role is ideal for a focused, dependable cook with fine dining or upscale restaurant experience and an interest in Japanese cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and execute menu items according to recipe, plating, and quality standards
Maintain strong mise en place and support smooth service execution
Handle premium ingredients with care, including wagyu, seafood, caviar, and seasonal products
Work cleanly, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Support station setup, breakdown, prep, organization, and inventory awareness
Communicate effectively with chefs, culinary leadership, and fellow team members
Follow all food safety, sanitation, storage, and health department standards
Maintain consistency, urgency, teamwork, and professionalism during service
Qualifications
1–3 years of line cook experience in a high-volume, upscale, fine dining, Japanese, sushi, or luxury hospitality environment preferred
Interest in Japanese cuisine, premium ingredients, and refined plating
Strong knife skills, prep skills, organization, and attention to detail
Ability to follow recipes, standards, direction, and service expectations
Professional, dependable, team-oriented, and willing to learn
NYC restaurant experience and opening experience a plus
Work Environment & Expectations
High-end Japanese fine dining kitchen environment
Evening, weekend, holiday, and late-night availability required
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work on the line for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs as needed
Comfort working in an opening environment where systems, standards, and culture are being built
