General Production / Shakeout
Every part we ship passes through this station first. Working from laser-cut and turret-punched nests, you’ll identify, sort, and separate metal components by hand, then finish them using grinders, sanders, deburring equipment, and hand tools. It’s hands-on, it moves fast, and it’s one of the best ways to get a real start in manufacturing. Six to twelve months of related experience is preferred, not required.
Description: Under the direction of the Team Leader, the General Production/Shakeout team member identifies, sorts, and separates laser cut or turret punched components by hand, in accordance with company policies and procedures. You will consult with the Team Leader on scheduled production and schedule requirements, separate metal parts from skeletal nests to company specifications, and complete secondary work using hand files, grinders, sander/timesaver machines, deburring/tumbling machines, and hand tools (with proper operation and safety training). The role also includes completing required paperwork and records, checking the work area for hazards, and maintaining departmental housekeeping standards throughout and at the end of each shift.
Shift: TBD
Requirements:
- Two years of high school, GED, or equivalent; preferably six to twelve months of related experience, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to complete time reports and production reports.
- Ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing/Movement: Regularly stand and walk for the duration of the shift and use hands to handle sheet metal parts, materials, and tools; occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or balance. Must be able to reach in multiple directions during part handling and workstation adjustments.
- Lifting/Material Handling: Repetitively lift and carry materials up to 10 lbs., lift up to 35 lbs. for multiple repetitions, and lift up to 45 lbs. as needed. Must be able to push/pull metal sheets and parts using up to 25 lbs. of force.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to dust or airborne particles. Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
