Position Title: Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Maintenance Manager/ Plant Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (or exempt, depending on company policy)
Position Summary
The Lead Industrial Maintenance Technician is a hands-on working leader responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance on facility and production equipment, while also providing direction and guidance to the maintenance team. This role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations through both technical expertise and leadership, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform advanced maintenance and repair of industrial machinery, electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and facility equipment.
· Lead and mentor maintenance technicians, providing on-the-job training, guidance, and technical support.
· Assign daily work orders and ensure timely completion of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks.
· Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvements in reliability and efficiency.
· Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and spare parts usage.
· Coordinate with production supervisors and managers to minimize downtime and schedule maintenance effectively.
· Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and regulatory standards.
· Assist in planning and execution of capital projects, equipment installations, and upgrades.
· Act as first point of contact for technical escalations during assigned shift.
· Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the maintenance department.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required; technical school, associate’s degree, or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical field preferred.
· 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and mechanical repair.
· Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a team while also performing hands-on work.
· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues.
· Strong communication skills with ability to coordinate across departments.
· Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
· Computer literacy for maintenance management systems (CMMS) preferred.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for long periods.
· Exposure to industrial environment including noise, heat, and machinery.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, or on-call as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
