Sizer School is seeking an outstanding Science Teacher to join the middle school instructional team. The teachers at Sizer School bring a passion for implementing and supporting best instructional practices and wrap-around student support services, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative school environment. They have a deep passion for the Sizer School mission and teach in and are a part of an exemplary, innovative public middle/high school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to)
- Teaches Grade 8 Science courses and promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality curriculum and instruction and demonstrating respect for a diverse range of student skills and abilities.
- Designs units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks.
- Demonstrates instructional practices that establish high expectations, create a safe and effective classroom environment, and demonstrate cultural proficiency.
- Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.
- Acts as an advisor to a group of students and works to shape curriculum and practice to support the whole student.
- Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning.
- Participates in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade level team times.
- Regular in-person attendance

QUALIFICATIONS
- Dedication to the Sizer School mission.
- Thorough knowledge of curriculum design, MA Common Core, and assessment tools.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Highly qualified to teach in the assignment area. MA DESE License in content area with SEI
- Endorsement preferred. Mandatory within the first year of employment.
- Successful experience teaching in a diverse school environment.
- Innovative team player with proven history of service.
- Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to pass CORI and National Criminal Background Check.
- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
