JOB SUMMARY
Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a dedicated, student-centered educator to teach Chemistry courses as well as science electives. This candidate will bring a passion for implementing best instructional practices, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative teaching and learning environment. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (May include, but not limited to)
Teaches high school Chemistry courses and laboratories as well as science electives.
Demonstrates a strong knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality instruction and encouraging students to think independently and to express original ideas;
Designs units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks;
Demonstrates instructional practices that reflect cultural proficiency as well as creates a safe and effective classroom environment;
Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities;
Acts as an advisor to a group of students and works to shape curriculum and practice to support the whole student;
Designs learning experiences that are informed by data and address prioritized standards;
Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning;
Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress;
Administers formative and summative assessments in alignment with grade-level needs; and
Participates in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade level team collaborative meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited college or university
Dedication to the Sizer School mission
Thorough knowledge of curriculum design, MA Common Core, and assessment tools
MA DESE License with SEI Endorsement preferred. Mandatory within the first year of employment.
Successful experience in teaching in a diverse school environment.
Innovative team player with proven history of service.
Ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
Ability to pass CORI and National Criminal Background Check.
