We are currently hiring an Automation Engineer.
Position Summary: Join our small team of Automation Engineers here at Six Sigma as we continue to develop novel solutions to novel problems. Utilize a combination of electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering as you build highly complex, custom machines to automate and optimize our in-house soldering processes. Work with our diverse team, including Quality, Materials, Process, and Automation Engineering, to implement the machines and solutions you design, ensuring our products are the highest quality they can be.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering fundamentals to design, prototype, and implement automated machinery for in-house use.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop and maintain design and process requirements.
- Generate, maintain, and execute project plans for building new machines and improving old machines.
- Perform engineering evaluations and qualifications to verify and validate machines.
- Create documentation detailing the design, build instructions, and work instructions of machines.
Qualifications:
Education: B.S. or greater in Mechatronics Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent.
Experience: Two plus years of experience preferred.
General Requirements:
- Experience designing mechatronics systems and/or tabletop machinery.
- Experience with embedded systems and hardware-software integration.
- Experience with mechanical CAD using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar software.
- Experience with electrical panel design and general electrical engineering concepts.
- Experience designing and generating electrical schematics.
- Experience using power tools.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or programmable automation controllers (PACs) and their programming languages (ladder logic, structured text, function block diagrams, etc.).
- Familiarity with low-level programming languages such as C, Rust, Verilog, or any assembly language is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine vision hardware (lights, cameras, lenses) and software (image filtering, object detection, measuring and gauging) is a plus.
- Logical trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly detail-oriented.
- Good organizational skills.
- Fast learner, self-motivated, and accomplishment driven.
- Ability to work productively in a small-team setting and occasionally work solo.
- Skilled in use of MS Office computer applications.

Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
