What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fright Fest Makeup Artist position at Six Flags Theme Parks?
This is a short-term position for the Fright Fest season. Duties will include applying make-up to actors, applying and removing prosthetics to actors, working nights and weekends, daily auditing to ensure quality, assisting with the set up and break down of Fright Fest, all in a fast paced environment. Role reports to the Makeup Artist Supervisor. Interested applicants must be reliable and creative with a general makeup or special effects background.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Availability to work operating days starting 8/21 including nights, weekends and holidays - any conflicts must be noted at the time of interview/audition
- Must be available for training prior to the start of the Fright Fest season
- Airbrush experience preferred
- Cosmetology/Beauty/SFX training/schooling preferred
- Continued standing, walking, kneeling, and bending for up to 6 hours at a time with the ability to lift up to forty pounds
- Ability to take direction while being able to work well in fast paced environment around large groups of people
- Must perform well individually and in group settings
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that characters and performers are transformed accurately to their area in assigned makeup
- Create upwards of 24 characters in a 6 hour time frame
- Apply airbrush makeup, foam latex and silicone prosthetics to create characters
- Follow and maintain all sanitation and safety standards
- Troubleshoot and fix issues involving makeup applications, touch ups, removals and airbrushes
- Maintain proper airbrush care
- Ensure work station and room is kept clean and organized
- Assist in costuming characters properly according to area
- Assist in character transport when needed
- Perform daily audits to ensure character integrity
- Other duties as assigned.
