Job Summary
The Commissioning Agent will act as our customer’s advocate during construction of their building to ensure MEP systems perform in accordance with the Owner’s Project Requirements. Tasks include performing technical design reviews, developing functional building system tests, handling commissioning projects, supporting the development of tools to improve and streamline the commissioning process, and helping to educate clients on the efficient operation of their building systems.
Frequent travel is required for this role, including [e.g., site visits, commissioning and job site meetings, and job site systems testing]. Travel includes multi-day trips and may account for up to 80% of the time.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
This position operates in both office and field environments. The commissioning staff works both on construction sites and in a professional office setting, collaborating with internal teams, clients, consultants, and contractors. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers are used regularly.
The role also includes frequent visits to construction sites or client locations, which may expose the employee to varying weather conditions, active construction zones, and uneven terrain. During site visits, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, and closed-toe footwear is required.
Hybrid work arrangements may be available, depending on project requirements and company policy.
Candidate must be able to work efficiently at heights utilizing vertical lifts (i.e. man lift or ladder).

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Review progress drawings and specifications for correlation between MEP systems.
- Review submittals.
- Coordinate functional testing requirements with the Owner’s Project Requirements and Basis of Design.
- Collect equipment nameplate data.
- Perform pre-functional checks of HVAC and plumbing equipment.
- Assemble initial commissioning concern list.
- Witness functional testing of equipment by the installing contractor.
- Complete pre-functional and functional checklist forms.
- Provide commissioning concern list with updates of action items to Client and project manager.
- Assemble commissioning record and systems manual for client.
- Keep client informed on project issues through e-mail and direct conversations.
- Witness equipment training.
- Understand our scope of services & fulfill to the Owner’s expectations in a professional manner.
- Develop a solid, professional relationship with the design team based on understanding and trust.
- Technical Degree in Engineering preferred.
- Industry certifications preferred including ACG Certified Commissioning Authority or ACG Certified Commissioning Technician.
- Minimum of 2 years field testing experience involving verification and testing of building systems.
- Understanding of overall design intent for HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Systems and the construction process, operation of building energy systems, and basic knowledge of construction management.
- Proficiency in review of MEP construction documents, functional performance testing for building systems and resolution tracking procedures.
- Ability to effectively implement commissioning procedures on construction projects using both written and verbal skills.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and document management software including Bluebeam and ProCore.
- Ability to pass PA Department of Education Federal and State Background Checks and Clearances required.
- Valid driver’s license.
