DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking New York City-based actors and creatives for our production of Fireflies by Philana Imade Omorotionmwan!
Consisting of twelve vignettes, Fireflies uses narration, movement, and music to tell a story about longing and the search for intimacy through the lives of insects.
WHAT TO PREPARE:
- Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue of your choosing!
CASTING BREAKDOWN:
A note from the script on casting: "All of the characters are black. Please be aware of how skin tone will affect the story that gets told (for example, if the GLOWs are “dark-skinned” and the SHINEs are “light-skinned)."
- THEN-SELF- full of youthful enthusiasm and hope while also being a little bit whiny; believes all the things she dreams for herself are possible; all heart.
- NOW-SELF- cold, detached, dispassionate; knows better; all head.
- THE MOON- THEN-SELF’s first reflection of her light.
- SHINEs 1-2- sweet; a little rough around the edges.
- GLOWs 1-3- charming; used to getting what they want; everyone wants their attention/to be near them.
- BLUE- played by the same actor who plays THE MOON.
This production will be performed in Prospect Park September 18th-20th!
