Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Stevens Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) serves the University’s central business function of providing pre-award and non-financial post-award research administration services to the research community. The Contract and Grant Specialist for OSP reports to the Director, Proposals and Award Management. This position offers the option to work remotely full-time or hybrid. In this role, the Contract and Grant Specialist provides the following services: Works with researchers and departments to develop and review budget and administrative proposal documents in accordance with Federal, sponsor, and institutional policies and requirements. Tracks and ensures timely submission of proposals. Maintains proposal data and auditable records for proposal submissions. Works with researchers to submit post-proposal actions at the request of sponsors to include JIT, budget revision, change in scope and other requirements. Provides subject matter expertise in sponsored projects in accordance with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and/or other sponsor requirements. Monitors regulatory mandates governing sponsored programs and develops informational guidelines to advise the community. Maintains auditable records of proposal administrative activities in accordance with sponsor and University records retention policies. Provides formal and informal training on sponsored research administration to the research community. REQUIRED SKILLS Ability to work with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment with multiple and shifting deadlines. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a team environment. Ability to interpret and apply Federal, non-Federal, and University policies. Knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration including Conflicts of Interest, Human Subjects, Animal Welfare, Export Controls, Biosafety, Responsible Conduct of Research, and Environmental Safety. Experience in developing and reviewing proposals for grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts from federal agencies (such as DoD, NIH, NSF, DOE) as well as State agencies, Foundations, and Corporate sponsors. A variety of sponsor experience is expected. Strong, clear, and effective communication skills. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE Qualifications: Must be a US Person Required Experience: Bachelor’s degree 2 years’ experience in Research Administration or at an institute of higher education Preferred Experience: Experience with InfoEd eRA system or other similar electronic research administration system. Master’s degree in business or related field CRA certification Member of NCURA, SRAI, or other professional research administration associations Department Office of Sponsored Programs - Preaward Compensation Range In compliance with the New Jersey Wage Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $61,700.00 - $84,300.00. This range represents the University’s good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Stevens Institute of Technology determines compensation based on factors including the position’s scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience, education, skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational considerations. The final salary will be set considering departmental budget, qualifications, and relevant credentials. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes additional forms of compensation, such as incentives, stipends, or other applicable pay components.
