Position Overview
As a Kennel Attendant, you play a crucial role in the day-to-day care and comfort of the dogs in our facility. You’ll ensure they’re safe, happy, healthy, and receiving excellent care.
This is a physical, hands-on job that requires attention to detail, teamwork, time management, and a genuine love for dogs.
Key Responsibilities
Dog Care & Handling
- Feed dogs and administer clean water according to their schedules.
- Walk and potty dogs throughout the day; monitor elimination habits and health.
- Conduct structured exercise sessions such as treadmill walks, FitPaws, enrichment, and supervised play.
- Safely handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
Facility Care
- Clean and sanitize kennels, runs, and play areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe facility at all times.
- Assist with laundry, dishes, and daily cleaning checklists.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
Communication & Teamwork
- Work closely with trainers and management to ensure each dog’s routine is followed.
- Report behavior changes, health concerns, or incidents promptly.
- Provide excellent customer service and represent Sit Now Stay with professionalism.
Requirements
- Must love working with dogs and be comfortable handling all breeds.
- Ability to walk, lift, bend, and be on your feet for long periods of time.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Weekend and holiday availability is required.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure.
- Comfortable with cleaning tasks — this role includes a significant amount of cleaning.
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience in animal care, kennel work, dog daycare, vet clinic, or similar environment.
- Interest in dog training, canine fitness, or behavior work.
- Long-term interest in a career in the pet industry.
