Dog Trainer

Sit Means Sit Dog Training is growing here in Portland area, and we are looking for someone who has what it takes to grow along with us. We are the leaders in attention-based training utilizing our patented Sit Means Sit Training Collar to work with dogs of all temperaments and breeds. As a trainer it is your job to train dogs and motivate people to build a long happy relationship with their dogs.

This position is part customer service and part dog trainer. Our goal is to hire great people and create an environment for them to thrive and be successful. Any great dog trainer is a great people trainer as well and we will help you build the skills necessary to be successful in both avenues. No experience necessary but preferred, a great attitude and desire to learn is imperative.

Priorities:

• Represent the brand & values while engaging and educating new and existing clients about the Sit Means Sit system
• Practice safe training practices to ensure client, dog, personal and public safety. Safety is always the #1 concern and priority, when in doubt err on the side of safety
• Train clients and their dogs with integrity and respect
• Maintain Contact and offer support to all clients to promote and maintain a high level of excellence in customer service
• Train and care for dogs within our facility and ensure they meet our high training standards

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in public
• Works with clients and their dogs following Sit Means Sit patented training methods and procedures
• Conducts training sessions with clients’ dogs to meet the client’s goals
• Leads / assists group classes while maintaining a safe and fun training environment.
• Completes administrative duties
• Continues to improve training skills and knowledge needed to do your job
• Keeps company vehicles in a good working, clean and professional state
• Maintain a clean safe, and organized work environment
• Communicate as necessary with management and office staff
• Create videos and pictures

Minimum requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
• Must be able to work evenings and weekends
• Must be able to sign a non-compete agreement
• Pass a background check

Pay: Starting $10-$15 per hour

Opportunities for raises and bonuses. Paid time off offered to full time employees

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $12,000.00 - $31,200.00 per year
