Summary:
The Staff Accountant is required to perform a variety of accounting activities in support of the Sisters of St. Joseph and their ministries as required. The Staff Accountant works with the Director of Finance and Executive Directors to ensure that sound business practices and accounting principles are maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Understands the Mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph and lives the Employee Mission Statement.
- Performs financial accounting duties the Sisters of St. Joseph, including receipts, disbursement, maintenance of appropriate records and accounts, reconciling bank statements routine cash management and recording adjusting journal entries.
- Responsible for monthly close of general ledgers, producing financial statements, bank deposits, 1099s, Annual tax returns 990/1120, and the filing of BCO-10.
- As Directed by Director of finance, performs bookkeeping and accounting functions involving depreciation and SS Tracking. .
- Reconciles bank statements for the Congregation’s accounts and records adjusting journal entries.
- Provides support to Director of Finance in the preparation of the annual Congregational budget.
- Answers questions and offers explanations to the Leadership Team, Director of Finance and Department Managers regarding accounts for which they are responsible.
- Provide support in year-end accounting functions, helps prepare for the annual audit and provides information requested during the audit.
- Assists with the preparation of tax returns for community members.
- Prepare reports as requested by the Director of Finance and Leadership.
- Attend and present financial data and budgets at board and other meetings as needed.
- Process Bi-weekly payroll.
- Assist with open enrollment functions and entering annual COLA Rates as required.
Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration with minimum 3-5 years of experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Computer Skills- Ability to use any technology necessary for the position (Microsoft Office {Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Pro Series depreciation software and various Databases). Currently using QuickBooks online.
