Job Overview

Responsible for care of hard surfaced and carpeted floors at Sisters of Charity locations.  Work independently to cover assigned area, also work as a team to ensure all facilities are kept at a high level of cleanliness.  Other duties include, but are not limited to, trash removal, linen distribution and window cleaning.  Interact with other departments when necessary to coordinate tasks.  Must be available as needed on weekends, holidays and overtime.  Must be a team player and exercise the core values of the Sisters of Charity Mission Statement: Respect, Honesty and Excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Promote a campus-wide philosophy that aligns with the mission and core values of the Sisters of Charity.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  1. Communicate with supervisor regarding the scheduling of work.
  2. Be available for Emergency on-call rotation.

Environmental Services – Floor Care & Facility Support

  1. Maintain hard floor and carpeted floor surfaces in the optimal condition, including stripping, refinishing, and buffing.  Operate carpet machines.
  2. Remove trash, clean windows, distribute linen, and assist with set-ups and moves, various cleaning duties as required/requested.
  3. Keep equipment neat and clean, notify supervisor of needed maintenance, and perform minor maintenance tasks on equipment.
  4. Complete requests for supplies.
  5. Clean floors and high areas in the Motherhouse's big dining room, kitchen, dish room, pantries, and nearby hallways on a monthly basis.
  6. Uses the electronic work order system to receive, document, and complete assigned work requests.
  7. Operates Sisters of Charity motor vehicles and/or mobile equipment as required to perform job duties and complies with all organizational licensing, training, testing, safety, and Motor Vehicle policy requirements.

  1. Know where to obtain information regarding chemicals, follow direction in use and care of chemicals and equipment.
  2. Function appropriately in emergency situations in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  3. Adhere to all safety precautions and report to supervisor or appropriate personnel, any conditions that appear to be unsafe, report incidences and conditions needing maintenance.
  4. Recognize and adhere to policy and procedure regarding resident rights.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information (HIPAA) and respect and adhere to all resident rights. 
  6. Complete all assigned documents and mandatory training by specified deadlines.
  7. Remain current on applicable regulations and procedures by professional publications and attending applicable seminars.
  8. Maintain current professional credentials and certifications.

Professional Development

  1. Attend and participate in all in-services, training sessions, and staff meetings as required.
  2. Perform other duties as requested or required.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  1. Work is performed in a healthcare and residential campus setting that may require exposure to varying temperatures, cleaning agents, and occasional noise.
  2. All employees must be able to perform the essential functions of their position with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, and other movements consistent with a healthcare and residential work environment.
Qualifications:

Skills and Qualifications

Education:

Required

  • Ability to read, converse and comprehend the English language.

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED

 

Licensure/Certification:

Required

  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Required

  • Hard surface floor and carpet care.

Preferred

 

Kind and Length of Experience:

Required

  • 1 year hard surface floor and carpet care.

Preferred

  • 3 years hard surface floor and carpet care.
