Job Title: Custodian
Department: Facilities
Location: 1050 S. Park Avenue, Tucson, AZ
Hours: Hours vary but are normally 5 days in a row between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. including weekends
Hourly Rate: $18.00
Part-time/Full time: Full-time
Job Summary:
Perform a variety of duties including sweeping, mopping, bathroom and shower cleaning, emptying trash cans, etc. Due to the nature of this position, it is open to FEMALE APPLICANTS.
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Duties/Responsibilities:
May include but are not limited to the following:
- Communicates with Guests in a positive, caring, and professional manner
- Maintains the safety of Guests by enforcing Center policies
- Sweeps, mops, and polishes floors in the kitchen, rooms, and halls.
- Dusts and/or polishes furniture, blinds, and equipment.
- Cleans restrooms and fills dispensers.
- Reports malfunctions of equipment, bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, etc. to Supervisor.
- Cleans showers and laundry area during the day program
- Moves furniture, equipment, or fixtures as required.
- Sweeps outside areas around buildings and on the patios.
- Assures all safety precautions are followed in the workplace.
- Communicates effectively in a professional manner and is a team player.
- Cleans and puts away dishes, cups, and utensils
- Empties trash containers and replaces liners.
- Cleans up spills and messes.
- Prepares the sleeping area for guests.
- Assists with the sorting of donated items when requested.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older with two years of work experience·
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to prioritize tasks and multi-task.
- Effective communication skills – written and oral.
- De-escalation skills, crisis management, and trauma-informed care practices.
- Comfortable working with individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.
- Work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Able to make hard decisions, uphold personal and professional boundaries, and work with challenging behaviors.
- Empathy, persuasiveness, and orientation to help others succeed.
- Computer skills and the ability to utilize simple computer database
- Ability to convey a positive and professional image to employees, volunteers, and donors
- Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
- Cleared illicit/illegal drug test results
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
