Job Title: Data Centre Facility Manager
Location : New River Valley, VA
Duration : 12 months
Experience Required:
5 Years in Data Centre facility operations with strong Mechanical & Electrical background expertise.
Role Overview:
The Data Centre Facility Manager is responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all critical infrastructure systems within the data centre. This includes mechanical and electrical equipment such as HVAC systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and fire suppression systems. The role demands proactive maintenance, troubleshooting, and adherence to compliance standards to guarantee uptime and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Maintenance
- Plan and coordinate the preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, CRAC/CRAH units, switchgear, PDUs).
- Monitor and operate Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools for alerts and performance optimization.
- Conduct Daily/Weekly/Monthly physical site inspections, health checks, and maintain operational logs.
Incident & Emergency Response
- Respond to alarms and critical alerts within agreed SLA and timelines.
- Execute emergency procedures and coordinate with vendors for rapid resolution.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, building codes, and OEM standards.
- Local Regulations and best practice standards MUST be followed within the DC.
Capacity & Lifecycle Management
- Support capacity planning for power and cooling infrastructure.
- Assist in lifecycle management of facility assets and participate in audits and risk assessments.
Technical Support
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes).
- Coordinate installation, moves, and changes for structured cabling and IT racks.
- Install the PDUs in racks and connect with power distribution as needed.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, fire suppression, and plumbing.
- Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and cooling technologies.
- Hands-on experience with BMS/DCIM platforms and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline.
- Work permit certificate is must to work in the Data centre and high voltage environment
- Certifications preferred: HVAC, Electrical Safety, or Data Centre Operations.
