Senior Commercial Interior Designer

SiS is a commercial furniture and interiors partner delivering turnkey solutions for healthcare, corporate, and education environments across the Gulf Coast and beyond.
We are seeking a Senior Commercial Interior Designer to join our team. This is a senior-level, client-facing role responsible for leading projects from early planning through specification, procurement coordination, installation, and closeout.
This role is ideal for an experienced designer who understands both design intent and execution, and can confidently manage the full lifecycle of a project in a fast-paced commercial furniture environment.
Position Overview
The Senior Commercial Interior Designer leads furniture planning, specification, and project coordination across multiple projects. This role requires strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to move projects forward with minimal oversight.
You will work directly with clients, architects, contractors, and internal team members to ensure projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and aligned with both design and budget goals.
This is a hands-on role within a growing company, with the opportunity to contribute to process improvement and the continued development of the design team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead commercial furniture planning and layout development across healthcare, workplace, and education projects
- Develop specifications, finish selections, and client presentation materials
- Prepare finish boards, digital presentations, and client-facing packages
- Review architectural drawings and coordinate with A&D teams, contractors, manufacturers, and installers
- Manage project flow from design through order entry, delivery, installation, and closeout
- Track project details, including lead times, approvals, submittals, and order readiness
- Support budgeting and value engineering while maintaining design intent
- Coordinate field conditions, including power, data, dimensions, and installation constraints
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, and installation coordination
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of specifications prior to order entry
- Lead projects through installation, punch list, and post-install warranty resolution
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Contribute to internal process improvements and team workflows
Procurement & Technical Requirements Senior Description
- Strong understanding of the furniture procurement lifecycle, including BOM development, quoting, revisions, and order execution
- Experience preparing and auditing detailed specifications and bill of materials (BOMs) for accuracy
- Ability to manage and reconcile quotes, executed proposals, purchase orders, and acknowledgments (OAs)
- Proven ability to identify and resolve discrepancies across specifications, quantities, pricing, and lead times
- Experience reviewing manufacturer acknowledgments to ensure alignment prior to order release
- Familiarity with order entry readiness, including finish approvals, submittals, and internal documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field
- Minimum 5 years of commercial interiors experience
- Commercial furniture dealership experience strongly preferred
- Strong background in furniture specification and systems furniture
- Experience with healthcare, corporate, or education projects preferred
- Familiarity with public bid work, state contracts, or GPO purchasing strongly preferred
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and CET (CET strongly preferred)
- Ability to produce presentation materials and renderings
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes, durability, and application
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents
- Highly organized with strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
