Database Administrator I
Location: Washington, DC Area (remote)
Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain FAA clearance
About the Role
As a Database Administrator I, you will support the FAA’s critical financial and project management system that keep aviation projects running smoothly. You’ll be responsible for database operations, user-requested updates, and application support through the help desk, ensuring that System remains accurate, available, and reliable.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to user requests and resolve issues through the help desk.
- Perform SQL updates, scripting, and tuning to keep databases running smoothly.
- Support application monitoring, backups, and recovery testing.
- Help coordinate software patches, upgrades, and system maintenance.
- Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with IT and security standards.
- Collaborate on system migrations, including future work with AWS cloud environments.
What We’re Looking For
- Master’s degree 3 years of relevant experience, or; Bachelor’s degree 5 years of relevant experience, or; Associate of Applied Science degree 10 years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience with database administration (Oracle or equivalent).
- Strong SQL skills, including scripting and performance tuning.
- Experience supporting applications and providing Tier 2/3 technical support.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Primavera P6.
- Familiarity with FAA or other federal IT systems.
- Knowledge of Oracle ADF and ETL tools.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services (RDS, EC2) and database migration strategies.
