Sip & Bite Cafe - Immediate Hiring for Barista - Team Member

Position Summary:

A Barista/Staff member at Sip & Bite Cafe is responsible for providing quick and efficient service in a high-volume environment. This role involves significant interaction with guests and requires top-notch customer service skills. A consistently positive attitude is essential to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business. Responsibilities include preparing various coffee beverages, maintaining the café’s appearance according to company standards, and assisting in all areas of operation: food preparation, order packing, beverage preparation, guest service, cleaning, and stocking.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following):

• Greet and assist guests with purchases, exchanges, gift cards, special orders, and general inquiries in a friendly manner.

• Ensure all transactions are completed accurately using the POS system, and that all cash handling follows company policies and procedures.

• Prepare hot and cold beverages and other items from the menu.

• Execute all coffee preparation procedures in line with current coffee distributor guidelines.

• Maintain knowledge of all Sip & Bite Cafe menu items and recipes.

• Open and/or close the café according to the scheduled shift.

• Consistently maintain cleanliness in all areas of the café.

• Provide a valid CA Food Handlers Card (or obtain one within 14 days of hiring).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but must be able to work collaboratively as a supportive member of the Sip & Bite Cafe team.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

• Fluency in English is required.

• Ability to process information and merchandise through the POS register system.

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Ability to learn and operate technical equipment (e.g., espresso machine).

• Min 1 year of experience at a cafe/restaurant.

• Ability to accurately handle currency with guests, including reconciling all cash.

• Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment.

• Previous experience in food, beverage, retail, or customer service is a huge plus.

• You must have a valid CA Food Handlers Card (or will be asked to obtain one within 14 days of hiring).

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours a day.

• Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

• Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
