POSITION SUMMARY: The Radiology/Lab Tech performs high-quality diagnostic X-ray procedures and provides phlebotomy, specimen collection, and laboratory clerical support to ensure efficient operation of both the Radiology and Laboratory Departments. Functions are performed in accordance with established standards and policies under the general supervision of the Radiology Manager and Lab Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Required: Associate degree; graduate of a Radiologic Technology program.
License/Registration/Certification:
Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
Required: Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice (Radiography).
Required: BLS certification.
Experience:
Preferred: X-ray experience (including inpatient/outpatient imaging).
Preferred: Phlebotomy experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Radiology (X-Ray Only):
Performs routine diagnostic X-ray examinations for inpatients and outpatients in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Practices radiation safety for patients, families, and staff.
Ensures accurate patient identification and obtains required consents.
Prepares exam rooms, equipment, and patients for procedures.
Schedules imaging exams and provides preparatory instructions.
Interprets/transcribes physician orders with appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Handles incoming/outgoing phone calls courteously and routes messages appropriately.
Assists in orientation and training of radiology staff and students.
Participates in rotation of call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Response time no longer than 30 minutes.
Weekend rotation includes coverage of Cherokee Regional Medical Clinics’ weekend hours.
Laboratory:
Performs phlebotomy (venipuncture and capillary collection).
Collects additional samples including throat swabs, nasal/nasopharyngeal swabs, and other ordered specimens.
Provides patient instructions for specimen collection.
Handles patient needs in a timely and professional manner.
Answers laboratory phone calls; greets and checks in patients with courteous customer service.
Transcribes and organizes lab orders, including those from outside providers.
Files documentation, prepares paperwork, and maintains records according to lab procedures.
Practices safety, environmental, and infection-control standards according to established guidelines.
