Job Overview
- Perform work specified on the repair order with efficiency and in accordance with dealership
- Test-drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using diagnostic tools and special service equipment
- Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.
- Communicate directly with the Service Advisor so that customers can be informed if any additional service is needed. Providing an estimate of time needed for additional repairs
- Executing repairs under warranty to manufacturer specifications
- Pay/Bonus levels dependent on experience and certification levels.
- Climate controlled work environment
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics using automotive electrical systems, schematics, and advanced diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately.
- Conduct repairs on powertrains, transmissions, diesel engines, and other vehicle components with precision and efficiency.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and alignment machines to complete repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Service vehicles by replacing parts, performing oil changes, brake repairs, tire rotations, and other routine maintenance procedures.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex automotive electrical systems and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
- Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards while providing exceptional customer service.
- Document all work performed thoroughly in service records and communicate effectively with customers about repair needs and estimates.
Skills
- Proven dealership or service center experience with a strong background in automotive diagnostics and repair.
- Knowledge of ADAS systems, vehicle electrical systems, powertrain components, transmissions, and diesel engine repair.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for accurate troubleshooting.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and alignment machines.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to clients.
- Experience with auto estimating software and familiarity with GM vehicles is a plus.
- Strong maintenance skills across various automotive systems including automotive electrical systems, transmissions, and diesel engines.
