What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bus Driver position at Sioux Center Community School District?
Sioux Center Community Schools has an immediate opening for a morning and/or afternoon bus route driver.
Basic Function of the Position:
Drive morning and afternoon route to bring and return children to and from their homes.
Qualifications
Mandatory: High School graduate
Ability to work with people
CDL or Class D Chauffeur license
Desirable: Past bus driving experience
Responsibilities
- Pick up and drop off students: Follow a schedule to pick up and drop off students at designated locations
- Ensure safety: Follow safety rules, maintain order, and discipline students as needed
- Obey traffic laws: Follow state and federal transit regulations, and observe defensive driving practices
- Maintain the bus: Keep the bus clean and mechanically sound, and perform pre- and post-route inspections
- Help students: Assist students with getting on and off the bus, including those with disabilities
- Verify permissions: Check that children riding home with friends have permission
- Attend meetings: Participate in safety meetings as required
- Know first aid: Be knowledgeable about first-aid procedures
