Pay

$20–$25 per hour, based on experience, reliability, demonstrated skill, and prior leadership or supervisory experience.

Candidates with previous cultivation, agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, regulated manufacturing, or team-lead experience may qualify toward the top of the range.

Job Description

Join the Rugged Roots cultivation team as a Cultivation Technician supporting the daily care of cannabis plants from clone through harvest. This is a hands-on, full-time role within a structured, compliance-driven cultivation operation. The work is physical, detail-oriented, and process-focused, and is best suited for individuals who value consistency, teamwork, and doing things the right way in a regulated environment.

You will work alongside an experienced cultivation team following established SOPs, sanitation standards, and biosecurity protocols to maintain plant health, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Schedule Expectations

• Full-time position
• Weekend work is part of a rotating schedule shared among the cultivation team
• Overtime is periodic, typically during harvests or peak operational needs

Key Responsibilities

Cultivation & Plant Care

• Perform hands-on cultivation tasks including cloning, transplanting, pruning, trellising, canopy management, harvesting, and sanitation
• Assist with plant propagation and daily care following established procedures
• Monitor plants for signs of pests, disease, or deficiencies and report concerns promptly
• Support IPM (Integrated Pest Management) activities as directed

Cleanliness, Compliance & Safety

• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment
• Follow all state compliance, safety, and biosecurity protocols
• Use required PPE and handle tools, equipment, and materials safely
• Adhere to facility SOPs, access controls, and sanitation standards

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with cultivation team members to meet daily and weekly goals
• Communicate clearly with peers and supervisors to support efficient workflow
• Receive feedback constructively and demonstrate a willingness to learn and improve

Qualifications

Required

• Must be 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work at either Auburn or Portland cultivation facilities
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience in cultivation, agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, manufacturing, or other physically demanding or regulated environments
• Prior leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience
• Familiarity with SOP-driven work, sanitation standards, or controlled-environment operations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, and repetitive motion
• Work performed in warm, humid, plant-filled environments as well as cooler, dry areas depending on task
• Physically active work requiring attention to detail, consistency, and reliability
